EP 91. Afghanistan Interview with Gage Nichols, USMC & Simple Church Member

On August 14th, 2021 a mass evacuation began in Afghanistan, leading to the withdrawal of all American citizens and tens of thousands of Afghans. One of our very own Simple Church members, Gage Nichols, is a marine and was deployed to the airport in Kabul during this evacuation. 

Co-Host Evan Semanco had been in contact with Gage, who grew up in the Simple Church, and shared a conversation with him as well as a fellow marine about their experiences on the ground, helping remove people from the sides of planes as they were taking off, and losing people in the suicide bombing on August 26th.

This week's episode of Backstage with the Simple Church is unlike any other we've ever done; we went out on location! On Sunday, August 15th the Simple Church went to Splash Kingdom water park and baptized 97 people who decided to go public with their faith.

Dr. Keith Scott is a critical care medicine physician as well a research associate at LSU Medical School, and a friend of the podcast! He comes on this week to talk about his personal experience with long haul COVID-19, what he is seeing working on the front lines of the pandemic, and what he would say to Christians as a doctor.

We've got a special edition of the podcast today with two special guests that joined us to answer questions about the COVID-19 vaccine. Sherri Hagerjhelm the critical care nurse educator for Willis Knighton and Aimee Sandifer, a women's health nurse practitioner at Oschner's.
